Karcher X Series featuring Industrys Induction

I really got sick of borrowing my buddy's 3000 psi gas-powered monster several times a year for small chores, so I did a little research and figured out any gas-powered washer in my budget wouldn't last very long. Many have pumps rated in the 20-40 hour range and other cheap amenities. In order to get one which would last for years (at least on paper) it would have cost around $600-800. I have always heard how "weak" electric washers were, but thought maybe the technology has evolved and included them in my search. After all - the extent of my cleaning needs are the garage floor, patio furniture, concrete patio preparation for sealant every other year, and my vehicle. I don't need to blast industrial grease off a M4 Sherman Tank, so I thought I would be okay with a lower-psi unit.

My original choice was the top-rated Rockford CPU0207 2,000 PSI 1.6 GPM Electric Pressure Washer here on Amazon. It was significantly cheaper and higher-rated. The ONLY reason I opted to go with the Karcher K 5.540 was because of the Karcher 2.640-959.0 Pressure Washer T-Racer Wide Area Surface Cleaner T100 accessory. It was a must have for my garage because I didn't want to blast water all over the drywall and flat paint; I merely wanted a clean floor with minimal splashing. Of course, this Karcher accessory ONLY fits the self-proclaimed "bayonet" set-up unique to Karcher. It wouldn't work with any other pressure washer brand :sigh: The other brand surface cleaner accessories were rated poorly, so I didn't want to take the chance.

I ordered my pressure washer on Sunday evening and received it Monday afternoon - YES, the NEXT day! Like a giddy college kid going to his first pub I set it up and got to work. Based on the sound advice of another reviewer "toolcritic" I went to Home Depot to pick up this solid brass hose adapter Watts # A-661 GH1 to replace the junk plastic one which came with the unit - which went right into the garbage. The plastic adapter appears to be a point of weakness on this pressure washer as it is much like an upright vacuum - if you pull hard on the hose it will face-plant into the ground often breaking the plastic adapter and rendering your cleaning done until it is replaced.

I first cleaned the garage floor with the T100 accessory and was pleasantly surprised about how well it cleaned with NO water splashing about - not a drop! Now, if you have heavy oil build up or other nastiness you'd be better off pre-treating and scrubbing the old fashioned way because this just doesn't have enough "oomph" to perform at that level. This worked fine for removing a "normal" amount of dirt, tire marks, and a few oil drippings from my oil change leftovers. The adjustable nozzle wand worked great for the patio furniture (dang birds) and easily removed a big, gooey wad of chewing gum from the patio at maximum pressure. Now, with that said, if you have experience in pressure washing you are not going to be impressed with the sheer power of this unit. It's sufficient, but certainly doesn't hold a candle to the gas-powered one I was used to borrowing. For my personal needs, however, it was absolutely adequate. The one thing about this unit that shocked me was how QUIET it is. I seriously thought it was broken until I pulled the trigger. What a refreshing change from a gas motor! Along with the compact design it was easy to find a spot to store it - with no worries of leaking gas or oil. I hope it has sufficient longevity; after all it's made of a loootttt of plastic parts.

I have had other electric pressure washers as well as gasoline pressure washers. I can honestly say that this Karcher outperformed a gasoline pressure washer that I had that was rated at 2300 psi. I am very pleased with this product.

It takes a little bit to build it but after that it works like a charm. The pressure is great and it doesn't leak water at the hose fitting. This unit is also very quite. My last pressure washer was also electric but very loud and leaked all over the place.

This seems like s quality machine. I already cleaned my whole driveway and I am very pleased with the results.

If you want a quite yet powerful pressure washer this is a great unit!

Excellent pressure for home owners around house or washing cars! Not noise like the power washers, does an excellent job even without detergent added to the liquid container. Only issue is the upper plastic piece that holds the "pistol" comes out easily. I did see someone in the reviews complaining about that as well, he used a screw to secure it, might have to consider that. Otherwise used multiple times and no issue so far.

I have had this pressure washer for a little over a month now and have been nothing but pleased with it. It does an outstanding job washing my vehicles and is a very high quality pressure washer. It also stores nicely and is about the size of an average stand-up vacuum machine.
