FURminator Long Hair deShedding Large

The advertising states this model is for "Large Cats." The choice of words in the ad appears imprecise.
Our larger younger cat is [to us] a MEDIUM size long-haired gray furball. We think of a "LARGE" cat as being anything from an Ocelot to a Jaguar. We own neither - or anything in between.
The FURminator works VERY WELL and removes large quantities of undercoat. The cat likes being groomed with it. We also have a very small, very ancient short-haired black cat. We found that the product works very well on her also. We are gentle and careful groomers.
The blade is sharp metal and if your grooming techniques are brutal, we are certain you can do damage to the cat's skin. We would not attempt to use this product on a long-haired cat with ungroomed or matted hair. That is a recipe for trouble.
One reviewer said that the Furminator was too harsh. We did not find that to be true and we groom with either it or a slicker brush, or both daily.

my cat sheds excessively. today i was brushing her like i do regularly but her shedding has been getting really bad i was out of town for a couple days so this is the first time in 3 days i have brushed her but i brushed out enough hairs to make another cat. she doesn't have any bald spots or anything so it isn't because she is sick she is a Siamese under 6 months i feed her the iams kitten food. is there a food i could switch her to that would help, more baths, or what could i do to help reduce her shedding?
my cat is throwing up hairballs and has lost a lot of weight. she is about 2 to 3 yrs old. there are no worms in her stool.
Okay, I admit it, I can get into the propaganda thing! Brutus, my newfie, can produce a houseful of shedding in one minute. Okay, that might be a slight exaggeration. I've seen this furminator things. They cost a lot. My last furbaby (lab/shep/? mix) didn't have a double coat so he only needed occassional grooming. (Although we pretty much did it daily because he who held the brush is was loved.) Brutus needs daily grooming. Sometimes, twice daily. Can anyone recommend good grooming tools to reduce the hair. If this furminator really a good thing? What about other tools? The name "furminator" puts in mind a bald dog shivering the cold and having all fur terminated on his body. gasp.
i hav a 7 months cat. she is a female and looks like the cat on the felix food. soo much of her hair falls out. her skin and hair are healthy and shiny but still hair comes out. i groom her too but her hair are so sillky that they dont get cout with the brush. they just fall on the floor. how can i stop her hair from falling???????
Theres many deshedding tools but I heard this specific one is good--so im just wondering if thats true. Is it worth the price? Also, what size would you suggest, med, lg or xl for a German Shepherd?
