Hoover WindTunnel Upright Vacuum UH70801

This is the first bagless vacuum I've used. Especially due to having pets (and their complimentary dander, fur, etc.), which create extra mess, I like the idea of not having to change bags--and that this is a lot less wasteful. Another plus: I've vacuumed up something that shouldn't have been vacuumed up, and didn't need to get into a bag to rescue it. It's also interesting to be able to be able to "see" what's creating the mess with the clear plastic "wind tunnel." Emptying the vacuum is really easy, though it can be messy since it stirs up the dust.
The attachments work well. I can reach clear to the top of a standard-height ceiling with the crevice tool attachment and wand pieces attached to the hose! The powered hand tool attachment is kind of like having a strong-powered mini vacuum.
Another really nice feature of the vacuum is that it's not just for carpets. The dial on the bottom allows you to adjust the height in order to clean high pile carpet down to hardwood floors. Unfortunately, this dial is on the lowest part of the vacuum, but it's not something necessary to adjust much if it's only being used for one flooring height.
Compared to the other vacuum I use (a different model of Hoover Wind Tunnel), the main thing I really miss with this one is that it does not have Embedded Dirt Finder indicator lights (red = not clean, yellow = almost there, green = done). You just have to go by sight as to whether the carpet is really getting clean. While the vacuum does a good job and this isn't really a necessary feature, I'm not sure if I'm holding it over areas long enough for it to really draw all the "gunk" out of the carpet without this sort of visual indicator.
The only thing I'm not pleased with, though, is the location of the on/off button. It's really tough to see and reach without bending down since it's located rather low, approximately midway down the vacuum's height. The other vacuum I use has a button near the top of the handle. It's not worth taking a star off for this, but I hope they'll redesign where the on/off button is located.

I had my doubts since the Hoover Windtunnel 2 is so inexpensive, but I was truly amazed in the suction power this vacuum offers. I have four wonderful dogs and two active teenagers, so you can imagine the dog dander and dirt that I am constantly cleaning up after.
The Hoover Windtunnel 2 is a tad on the heavy side but I think that is a good thing because it makes a good seal between the vacuum and carpet. It holds a lot of dirt and extremely easy to empty. It seems like I have to empty the canister quite often, but I don't mind because that's how I know it works great! To empty the canister I just walk over to the trash can, push a button and the bottom pops open and the dirt dumps out. The HEPA filter is washable, which is pretty much the norm on all HEPA vacuums. The included hand held turbo tool is great for furniture and stairs. Also comes with a long narrow crevice tool and dusting brush and extension wand.
If you are looking for a great powerful suctioning vacuum that is not going to empty your wallet, the Hoover Windtunnel 2 is the way to go.
The last time we bought a vacuum, a few years ago, we paid more than twice as much as this one costs and it had far less suction than this does. Who would think that vacuum technology is still progressing!
At this price, this vacuum is amazing. More expensive vacuums might be lighter, more maneuverable, or prettier, but in terms of cleaning and especially suction, they don't have anything on this Hoover WindTunnel 2.
In addition to the suction, I love the washable filter and the easy of emptying the dirt out. Seeing how much it has picked up each time we vacuum really encourages us to clean more often too.
I recommend you check this vacuum out if you are looking for a very good value.
The Hoover WindTunnel 2 Upright Vacuum, UH70801 isn't perfect, but it's a great vacuum for the money. Out of the box, assembly took less than 2 minutes and was self explanatory. The only tool needed was a Phillips Screwdriver to install the handle. Everything else snaps into place. The button release filter cup is easy to attach and empty. Adjusting the height is as easy as turning a dial. An Accessory Pack, including turbo tool, crevice tool, extension wand, and dusting brush is included. Once assembled, it was easy to test the performance since I have 2 cats who leave fur everywhere. The power cord is only 25' long, which is a little short in my opinion. Once turned on, the vacuum's motor is about average in noise level, but the 12 Amp motor does make a whistling noise that is a little annoying. Performance was excellent though, even at this price point. I immediately noticed the dirt cup filling up with cat hair. The vacuum weighs about 16lbs, which is fairly lightweight, probably due to the fact the vacuum is made almost entirely of plastic. It is easy to move around furniture, etc. Switching from the floor beater to the accessory hose is very quick and easy. The included accessories work well. The extension hose seems very short. The specifications say it's 8', but it seems about half that. Perhaps it needs to get stretched out. All in all, the Hoover WindTunnel 2 Upright Vacuum, UH70801 is a great vacuum for the price. It works great, has good features, and doesn't cost a whole lot. I can highly recommend it to anyone looking for a budget vacuum.
Pros:
Low cost.
Great performance.
Dual Cyclonic Air System with HEPA filtration.
High capacity, easy to empty dirt cup.
Accessory pack included.
Not too heavy.
Cons:
All plastic, so-so build quality.(expected at this price point though)
Hose length says 8' but seems much shorter.
Power cord is only 25'
No headlight.
Most parts of this vacuum were modeled directly from Dyson. Especially the bin, hose, and filters. Suction is excellent. Pretty much on par with the Dyson Ball. Attachments work great. The hose latches in using the same latch as, you guessed it, Dyson.
Only cons are - it's a bit louder. It uses a belt. It is cheaper looking (the quality of the plastic itself). For $100 I can't complain. EXCELLENT vacuum.
Using this vacuum in a large two story house that has two parents, four kids and three cats.
Pros
- Initial assembly straightforward
- Great suction
- Lightweight
- Attachments built into canister
- Good selection of nozzles
- Easy to empty
- Incredibly low priced for power and useability
Cons
- If you accidentally disassemble the trash canister (didn't read the instructions first), it is hard to reassemble.
- Cord length could be longer but not bad.
- Handle could be taller but usable for normal height woman.
You need to read the instructions on this one to figure out how to empty the trash canister and where the attachments are stored.
Highly recommend.
The HOOVER WINDTUNNEL 2 arrived needing some minor assembly, which was easy to figure even without reading the manual. You will need a Phillips screwdriver (or a small kitchen knife) to put the handle onto the body of the vac. All other pieces were easy to figure out where they go, and easy to snap into place. Assembly took under 10 minutes.
I will state up front that I have a preference for canister vac's, so I was a bit hesitant when this HOOVER WINDTUNNEL UPRIGHT arrived at my doorstep. I have three types of flooring in my home -- hardwood floors in the downstairs, including the kitchen, carpet upstairs, and tile in the bathrooms. I have now tried the Hoover WindTunnel 2 on all three types of flooring, and am quite pleased with it's cleaning strength, especially considering the low price of this vac! I normally use a Kenmore canister vac, which sells for $400 and over. This Hoover Windtunnel 2 cleans carpets every bit as well - if not slightly better! - than my old Kenmore.
The biggest plus for this vac is that you don't have to go out and purchase bags for it. You simply unsnap the debris canister and dump it into the trash. The manual suggests that you wash the filter, which is easy to get to, every two months. I can also see the need to rinse and dry the debris canister as well.
This vac is not lightweight by any means, as the price might lead you to believe. It is a full-sized vac that adjusts to all style floorings and has the same attachments a more expensive vac would have. I do like that all the accessories attach directly to the vacuum.
My one complaint is the positioning of the on/off switch, which is about one-third the way down the long stem handle. I found it awkward to get to. The vac would be better if the on/off switch were located on the upper handle and more accessible.
Overall, I'm really quite impressed with this Hoover WindTunnel 2, considering it's cleaning strength, ability to easily switch between floor surfaces, it's having no vac bag to purchase, and the complete set of attachments. I'm keeping mine and will suggest it to friends. At some point when I have to replace my Sears Kenmore cannister vac, the Hoover WindTunnel 2 will be my vacuum of choice!
With six people and three furry animals living on our house we tend to go through vacuums. What I like about the Hoover WindTunnel 2 is its suction power and its large capacity dirt cup. I am able to vacuum my entire downstairs without having to stop an empty the dirt cup like I have to with my other vacuum.
The vacuum is on the heavy side. It is easy to maneuver, but a little difficult to lift. To assemble you will need a Phillips screwdriver, but putting it together was easy even for somebody who is not mechanically inclined.
The vacuum did a good job on hardwood, carpet and area rugs. I also like the small turbo tool which is great for vacuuming up pet hair off of furniture.
This vacuum compares to ones I have purchased for $250-$300, so for $99 it is a deal.

Unfortunately, this dial is on the lowest part of the vacuum, but it's not something necessary to adjust much if it's only being used for one flooring height.
