Rubbermaid Reveal Spray Mop FG1M1600GRYRD

I have been really impressed with the Reveal mop during my few weeks of use. The pad is nice and thick and since it's made out of microfiber rather than paper (I'm talking to you Swiffer), you can really get in there good and scrub when needed. Also, since you can use your own cleaning solution (I like Method All Purpose Diluteable Cleaner Citrus Leaf, 25-Ounce Bottles (Pack of 6)), not only can you save money but you can use your favorite solution. Unless you haven't already figured, the ability to wash and reuse the microfiber pads is also convenient and saves money by not having to by single-use, disposable cleaning pads. The kit comes with 3 and you can use one at least twice for most jobs so it is not unreasonable to just throw them in the wash when convenient. The handle of the mop is mostly metal, and although the attachment to grip the pad is mostly plastic, the unit feels solid overall and I have no concerns over durability. It's about time a product this simple, yet well designed, has made its way to market!

Anyone who has seen my review of the Swiffer Wet Jet knows that I really like it. Or at least I did until I tried the Rubbermaid Reveal which is just miles better than the Swiffer. My main problem with Swiffer was the necessity of using both their cleaning solution and their disposable pads. Now the latter is just my thing; I don't like using disposables when I can reuse something. But the former was a big deal because the Swiffer solution stank. I'm not kidding here, that stuff reeked! I was grateful to find information online about how to hack the bottles so I could use my own solution, but while it solved the problem of smell, it also created one of leakage. Leaving a hacked bottle in the unit sometimes left you with a pool of cleaning solution on the floor.
No such problem with the Reveal. The kit comes with two empty bottles (You can purchase more) which you fill with your own solution. Having two means that you can use the unit on different surfaces, or use one for a quick water-only touch-up. Whatever works for you. The Reveal kit also comes with three microfiber cleaning pads which cling tenaciously to the mop head, and do a damn good job of soaking up the solution. Peel them off, rinse them out or toss them in the washing machine, and reuse. No more waste!
Another plus is the Reveal doesn't need batteries for the spray function. The Swiffer required 4 AA batteries, and while the power use was minimal, I really don't see why it was necessary when Rubbermaid has done the same thing mechanically. However that brings me to my one criticism of the Reveal: The spray is rather high. If you are too close to a cabinet or wall, or a piece of furniture when you pull the trigger, quite a lot of your solution will end up on the cabinet, wall, etc. Spray well back from where you want to be mopping.
The Reveal is heavier than the Wet Jet, but not by much. It's easy to maneuver and moves quite smoothly, better in fact than the Wet Jet, which flipped around a bit. It doesn't have an abrasive pad, but anyone who ever tried to use the one on the Wet Jet will probably tell you that it wasn't much better than none at all. I don't really miss it. If there's something I need to scrub, I can spot clean.
I know Rubbermaid quality and I'm guessing this won't fall apart as quickly as my first Wet Jet did. Seriously, all things considered, I don't think you could ask for too much better than this unit. Sorry Swiffer.
My kitchen has a wood laminate floor (which I would never again install in that space). Laminate floors don't like to get wet, yet a kitchen floor must be mopped. I have used an O-Cedar microfiber mop for many years with acceptable results. That mop and the tired microfiber pads have been tossed out. This is an amazing product. The microfiber pad does a fantastic job on my floor. I've been using the Pledge Multi-Surface floor cleaner with it and get streak-free results in conjunction with the superb pad. I rinse the pad out about half-way through the job to cut down on debris getting trapped and deposited on my floor. My only complaint is that I haven't been able to find additional pads at my grocery, Target or WalMart stores. I will be ordering a couple more from Amazon. I highly recommend this product.
My feet are clean. I just walked all over my hardwood floor apartment barefoot, and my feet are clean enough for my dog to lick (not that he'd mind either way.) I'd never used a mop like this, I'd always used the traditional type or the sponge type, but I love this one. No more messing with buckets or ringing out the head, just spray and glide over the floor and it's clean. The head is cloth so it can be washed easily, and the containers I just fill up with pine-sol solution.
Most importantly, getting a new mop inspires me to clean.
I opened the box an hour ago, and I already love this mop. I always hated the ones where I had to buy their solutions and their other disposable stuff. The pad soaks up a fair amount, and actually CLEANED some floors that I thought might never be clean again. I have dogs, so absolutely clean floors are never going to happen, but I do like to occasionally see the grain in the floor. This mop lets me do that. And I love the refillable bottle - again, having dogs, a lot of chemical cleaning solutions are problems. Rubbermaid, you've made me happy once again. Thanks!
I really, really like this mop. I also own a Swiffer and this one is so much more practical for me and provides better results. Unlike the Swiffer, which requires you to repeatedly purchase their disposable pads and their cleaning solution, the Rubbermaid Reveal mop comes with nice, thick reusable terrycloth pads that are far more absorbent and can be thrown in the washing machine and reused again and again. They attach very strongly to the mop and don't flop around like the Swiffer pads do when they get very wet. The base of the mop is larger than the Swiffer, allowing you to clean larger areas at once. The Reveal mop uses a bottle that attaches easily and can be filled with a couple of tablespoons of your preferred cleaning solution and water. Can't get any easier than that. Personally, I don't like the visible film that the Swiffer cleanser leaves on my kitchen floor. It definitely leaves a residue. With the Rubbermaid mop, I use a better cleaner that dries sparkling clean. This kit comes with a bunch of extra pads so you always have one on hand when another is in the laundry. It also comes with and extra solution bottle. Has a ring for hanging and is lightweight and very easy to use. When the Swiffer came out, I thought it was a great idea. This one is an even better, improved idea that I personally like a whole lot more. I would definitely recommend. It'll save you money in the long run, for sure.
I used the larger version of this mop at a resort I ran the housekeeping department for last year. It is by far the most wonderful thing ever. Get it!
I purchased 3 Reveals; one for me, one for my mom, and one for a friend... not one of us has a bad thing to say about it. (My friend said that even her husband has started to use it!) The mop is very easy to snap together right out of the box and the reservoir for the cleaning solution is easily refillable. I can't get over how happy I am that I'm able to choose the cleaning solution I want (Swiffer's left a film)! When it comes to cleaning the floor, this mop goes exactly where you want it to-- it's easy to steer and turns on a dime. When you're done, pull the cleaning pad off (which is a high-quality and absorbent material that uses velcro to stick to the mophead), and throw it in the washing machine... it really IS that simple. Although the mop does a fantastic job at cleaning there are always those stuck-on spots that require a little extra elbow grease. For a helpful hint: remember to read the directions on your brand of floor cleaner... some of them suggest to pre-treat the floor. Also, get the "Rubbermaid Reveal Spray Mop Kit"... having 2 cleaning pads makes life sooo much easier! I've had this mop for over a month, my floors have never been cleaner and I've already started saving money by not having to buy replacement cleaning supplies. It's kind of sad that I've gotten so excited over a floor mop, but once you use it, you'll understand :)
