I am an avid fisherman in the south Texas area. During the warm months my boat will often load up with flys. These flys are vicious. They look like ordinary house flys but they bite and the bites really hurt. Often they bite me on the ankle (even thru socks). I then grab my hat and swat them which hurts me more than them. They are very fast and usually escape. Last week I received my Bug a Salt and took it fishing. The flys invaded but wern't in the biting mood. No matter...I wanted some revenge for past asaults. So I showed them the business end of my new "Bug Gun". This thing really works and seems solid and built to last! It's like any gun...you have to be able to hit your target. But when you do, they do not escape. Sometimes it's instant death but often he's not a "fly" anymore...just a "walk" or more like a hobble with tattered wings. This is very satisfying. And almost more fun than fishing. But I do wonder what other fishermen will think when they see this mad man running around in his boat, shooting what looks like a nurf gun at unseen enemies, and hooting with pleasure at the results. The Bug-A-Salt looks just like the photo and makes killing flys a lot of fun! Looks like the maximum useful range is 2-3 feet like they claim. Unlike real guns and their currently unavailable and expensive ammo, stop at most any restaurant and reload from the salt shaker on the table or the little paper packets of salt. Mine arrived amazingly Fast, Your (delivery) Mileage May Vary. I showed it to a Policeman, and he loved it.

easy to use and does what it advertizes - flies don't stand a chance. Now if my spouse would just let our son use it once in a while...
This item is awesome. While it is probably considered a novelty item it actually does work and it is a blast to use. That said, these are readily available from the manufacturer's website (bugasalt.com) for a reasonable price. The prices given by the third party amazon sellers are inflated to the point of usury! I love amazon, and if they stocked this with prime shipping I think they would find a large audience but don't support these price gouging third party sellers.
EDIT: Cost at time of review was >$100, prices have seemed to level out though, so hunt on!
Powerful!!!! Like little bullets!!!! Oh my gosh!!!! So effective I was looking for prey after I killed them all! Didn't try large Roaches but I assume this would at least knock them out!
Couple scratches to paint but who cares! Functionality counts!
Hot damn!!!! Excuse my potty mouth! I feel like the terminator and need some cool shades and leather jacket! Oh and large muscles. I wish I could afford another so I can promote it where I am. Too bad. So sad.

It takes out flies like a champ. Could use a little more power especially for the super flies here in Egypt. All in all an amazing buy. Anyone who has fly problems should have one.

Sadly by the time I got my Bug Gun the flies were all gone for the winter but lookout next spring and summer.
It was dark, the night encroaching on my vision like a thousand silk handkerchiefs. All around me I could hear the buzzing of those insidious Flies, moving around my head. I began to experience flashbacks to that Horrifying night in 'nam where... No I can't talk of it.
But thankfully, I had to hand my trusty bug-a-salt. I drew my weapon and fired in one smooth motion. The fly fell to the floor, buzzing no more. I worked the slide and turned, firing again and again at the buzzing menaces. Soon, they lay in their hundreds on the floor, their doom-laden buzzing silenced forever.
