Mahogoney Finish Restorer

Howard RF1016 Restor A Finish Neutral 16 Ounce

Howard RF1016 Restor A Finish Neutral 16 Ounce

my order was received in a very timely fashion with a little handwritten note from the owner thanking me. enclosed in the box were 3 lollipops - first time that ever happened. My husband was a little concerned about me using this on the kitchen cabinets for which I purchased it. He said it smelled like denatured alcohol and was concerned it would ruin the finish. I tested it out on a small patch on the inside of a cabinet door that doesn't get used all that much and it was fine so I proceeded, still cautious at first. Turns out I am very happy with the way my cabinets look. It gave new luster to them while erasing small scratches, imperfections and signs of wear. I plan on using it on an old dresser I have. Can't wait to see how that old girl will look. Not only is the product good but I am also happy with the proprietor of Athens Specialty Store!

I used this to restore all of the oak cabinets in my house. Our house was built in 1988 and had fairly upscale Merilat cabinets that were just worn and faded. In the bathrooms, we had a lot of hzings, greying, and checking.

After using Restor-a Finish, the cabinets looked practically brand new!! A few things to note, though:

#1 - The grain in the wood becomes more pronounced and more defined. Imagine oak cabinets with the grain depth of hickory.

#2 - the final finish is quite dull. In our situation, a klitchen with dark red walls and stainless/black appliances, the dull satin finish worked really well. In the bathrooms, we ended up using a bees wax product to give them some luster.

#3 - While the product is easy to use, it is still labor intensive. We used the steel wool method of applying, after wiping the cabinets down witha high quality acidic wood wash that we got though our local woodshop. That cut through all of the grease and gunk. Then we went back with the Restor-a-Finish with o grade steel wool and applied with the gran of the wood. I did this twice. Each time the finish improved, but each time thw wood got a little darker. Since our wood was of a medium grain medium stain, a little darker was OK.

My suggestion to ANYBODY thinking about redoing a kitchen: buy this and try it on the insides of some cabinet doors first. You may find the facelift is more than enough to hold off on new cabinets for a while.

It works great!!! I used it on my antique kitchen table that gets a lot of daily wear and tear. My girls are always spilling milk, water, water colors, etc. The table had faded and this brought it back to life. It was quick and easy to use. I love this product!

I have Oak kitchen cabinets which look rather worn and haggard, but after getting estimates on any form of replacement was cost prohibitive decided to use this product. Golden Oak finish worked great and I followed up with Feed and Wax. I would recommend this product/products to anybody who has those "not so good looking" cabinets or dried out furniture which need a "Boost". Thumbs Up

I restore rifle stocks. This stuff works better than anything that I've ever used. It works great on minor furnature scratches.

Next best thing to actually stripping a piece. Doesn't quite have the same results, but restores to a satisfactory level when short on time.
    Recommend.

I've used other Howard brand products before with good results. So I thought I'd try this one out to see how it would work.I was totally amazed! The results were amazing and wonderful. The table looks like new! It filled in every scratch and sign of use our little table had. The only place it didn't work as well on was the area where the table splits in half. One side of the table has an area that is just slightly higher than the other side. So the raised side has become very worn on the corner and that one corner didn't get 'restored' as well as the rest of the table. That corner is still lighter but it is also still better than it was before I used the product. This stuff is wonderful, I wish I knew about it sooner.
