Dyson DC41 Animal Complete Bagless

I was VERY hesitant to order a vacuum that costs almost as much as my rent. I am living on a budget but also have been buying crap vacuum's for years that can't hold a candle to my dog's hair. I have a pit/boxer mix and he sheds like it's his job. My other vacuum was a Bissell that actually advertised that it was for heavy pet hair and I used it just before this Dyson and was astounded at what I thought was clean. This Dyson picked up so much stuff out of my carpet I was fascinated and grossed out at the same time. It even cleaned all the ingrained hairs out of the underside of the couch. It swivels on a dime and is really easy to maneuver. It also edges well and has a bunch of attachments and a fancy attachment bag to hold them all. This is a very expensive vacuum but worth every cent. No joke - stop buying cheaper vacuum's every year and thinking you're saving money! This is the true blue for people with dogs. I wish I could upload a picture of my couch before and after. You'd all be convinced!

I bought this Dyson (DC41) because my roommate is a 80lb Rottweiler pup. My old vacuum didn't do the job and couldn't remove fur that was caught in between the wall and carpet (where the dog sleeps). I quickly setup my new Dyson and went to work, the first thing I immediately noticed is how easy this vacuum is to maneuver and secondly the phenomenal sucking power. Anywhere the fur was stuck is now gone with one or two passes, amazing!
The attachments that arrive with the Dyson are top notch and easy to use.
Yes this is a pricey vacuum, but I think in the end it is well worth the cost.
1st of all, Amazon nailed it. Package arrived a day early and I got a great deal.
Before this vacuum arrived I had vacuumed with our old vacuum 2 days earlier. I considered the house to be pretty clean. After assembling the vacuum (took about 10 minutes, pretty straight forward) I went off vacuuming around the house. I never knew vacuuming could be so fun. I'm kind of a tech geek and I like clever solutions for problems that WORK. This vacuum produces solid results.
I had vacuumed 2 days earlier and I couldn't believe how much dirt, dust, and cat hair this thing sucked up. I ended up emptying the dust reservoir twice after vacuuming both floors in the house and the hardwood (couldn't believe I thought the place was clean!). The carpet hides dirt and dust but on the hardwood is where it's effectiveness was most noticeable. Our old vacuum seemed to push around any lose debris and I would have to follow up with a broom afterword. With the brush motor turned off, this vacuum picked up everything. It looked so good that when my wife came home she asked me if I waxed the floor not knowing that the vacuum had arrived a day early!
The ball technology makes this the best handling vacuum I've ever used and was very easy to clean under chairs and around table legs. The tools that come with it are handy and the long hose is awesome for vacuuming the stairs. The air powered tool with the spinning brushes allowed me to vacuum all the carpet steps without lugging the vacuum up and down and when I was done vacuuming, the nap in the carpet was lifted everywhere so that the footprints from where everyone walks up and down were all gone.
All in all very impressed. It feels sturdy when you're using it and I'm not worried about it breaking or cracking if it gets banged around or falls over. When I stood it upright, I had to be extra conscious that the legs that kept it balanced were engaged correctly otherwise it would fall over but I learned to get the hang of it after vacuuming for 5 minutes.
I was able to vacuum the whole house in 75%-80% of the time it normally takes and did a way better job. In my opinion, money very well spent.
I have 2 big dogs and this vac is buy for the best Vac I Very Good Product and Service need a part they send whole Best vac Great suction never loses suction even when Bin is full
I was very hesitant to buy a Dyson at $650, but it is worth every penny. I did a lot of shopping around and Amazon is definitely the best price. ABSOLUTELY the BEST vacuum I've ever used, very light weight and smooth! I actually want to vacuum now! I previously owned the Hoover Windtunnel. The Dyson blows the Windtunnel out of the water!! Equally amazing on carpet and bare floors and no more stopping the vacuum to switch between the two. Lots of attachments for the hose (also best I've ever used).
There are several things I don't like (just being picky):
> No cord rewind (I got spoiled with the Windtunnel)
> Cord must be completely unwrapped to use attachments because the top cord hook is attached to the hose.
> A little unstable (easily falls over) while in standing position because of the ball.
> A little awkward to push around while it's not running- it doesn't lock into place and tilt up to transport.
All in all the Dyson is amazing and I would definitely recommend it.
We needed a new vacuum, and chose this one after reading all the reviews. We vacuumed with our old vacuum, and then with this one when it came in a day later. The Dyson picked up so much stuff our old vacuum left behind. Unbelievable! It's got my husband so intrigued that he's vacuuming the house on his own. Now that's a good investment!
I wasn't sure this was right at all. Looked at reviews, already own a Windtunnel and Platinum by Hoover (read Consumer Reports, you'll understand), and never imagined I get so frustrated with the hair of 3 dogs and a cat that I'd spend the $$ for a vacuum cleaner.
Well, it's staying. I am impressed, to say the least. It picks up that much pet hair very efficiently, without the roller bar just stopping mid-vacuum due to hair wrapped around it. Sure some does wrap around, but it's so easy to pull out; so-o-o much easier than the Hoovers.
Cons: It is heavy for people with little hands or hand strength problems. At least at first it was, but less so now. But it's not a lightweight vacuum cleaner. But the motor must weigh a bit to do such a good job. I think too that I tried to hard at first to make it turn--I just didn't need to put so much force in it. It takes a corner easily, without much force.
I'd say, if on the fence like I was, give it a try and save the box it ships in just in case you want to return it. But I think you'll keep it.
